1. Service Description
Coastal Hub is an unofficial marine monitoring platform that provides access to marine VHF radio audio, pager messages, and DSC distress alerts. The service is operated independently and is not affiliated with the RNLI, Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), or any other emergency service.
2. Purpose
The service is provided for informational, educational, and training purposes only. It is not intended for safety-critical use. You must not rely on this service for emergency response, navigation decisions, or any situation where human safety may be at risk.
3. Not an Emergency Service
In an emergency, always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. This service does not replace official emergency communication channels.
4. User Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Accounts may be suspended or terminated by the administrator at any time.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Scrape, download, or redistribute audio recordings or data in bulk
- Use the service to monitor or track specific individuals or vessels for non-legitimate purposes
- Share your access credentials with others
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service
6. Data Collection
We collect account information (name, email), usage data (login times, page access), and user preferences (alert settings, radio channel selections). See our Privacy Policy for full details.
7. Data Retention
Audio recordings are retained for a maximum of 30 days. DSC upload files are retained for 7 days. Account data is retained while your account is active. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Disclaimer of Liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability of any content. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.
9. Radio Communications
The radio audio available through this service consists of open marine VHF transmissions. These are unencrypted broadcasts on publicly licensed frequencies. The service does not intercept private communications.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
